Made especially for us, inspired by our Plastics: Remaking Our World exhibition, Kathryn Williamson used beach found plastics for this item, showing how trash can truly be treasure. This one-off necklace is recycled textured and etched oxidized silver with acrylic and found ceramic and plastic.
Kathryn's jewellery is inspired by her personal treasure trove of items she has collected over time. This includes inherited and found objects, fragments of pottery and precious plastics found on the beaches of Fife, plus patterned from collected or inherited ceramics and textiles.
Kathryn is art school trained and moved back to her native Fife in 2000 to start her own business in her Pittenweem workshop perched on a cliff edges, overlooking the Firth of Forth.
All items are recycled silver, hallmarked in Edinburgh, containing engraved acrylic and beach found ceramics.
Due to each piece consisting of found items, each item of jewellery is one of a kind.
