A Living Room for the City celebrates the opening of V&A Dundee, a new design institution for Scotland in its inspiring home on Dundee’s waterfront. It features the early development stages, the architecture and construction of the building through to the monumental opening of Scotland's first design museum at its inspiring home on the banks of the River Tay.
When Kengo Kuma designed V&A Dundee, he wanted to create a building that local people could be proud of, something that would sit gloriously at the heart of Dundee's billion pound waterfront regeneration project, a safe, useful space for everyone to enjoy and in his words, 'a living room for the city'.
V&A Dundee is a living institution which will help represent the city in people’s minds here and around the world in a vital and inspiring way, helping to make new connections and generate new creativity long into the future.
