An exclusive collaboration with Donna Wilson and V&A Dundee, this limited edition Fair Isle jumper features a unique pattern representing Dundee’s maritime past and the three historic pillars of industry for which the city was once famed –Jute, Jam and Journalism.
Textile designer Donna Wilson and Scotland’s design museum have worked hand-in-hand to design a numbered, limited-edition Fair Isle jumper, just in time for the Christmas season. The cosy crew neck takes its inspiration from a hand-knitted 1920s Fair Isle given to the V&A by Mrs Kirke of Shetland, now on permanent display in V&A Dundee’s Scottish Design Galleries.
The journey of the Jute, Jam and Journalism jumper is a short and sustainable one! Each is knitted from pure new wool and hand-finished in Donna Wilson’s micro factory situated amongst Dundee’s former jute mills less than a mile away from the museum.
Donna, who hails from rural Aberdeenshire, set up the micro factory, known as the Knit Shop in Dundee in 2022, “Setting up the Knit Shop in Dundee is my small bit to share skills, encourage innovation, and to invest in the regeneration of the Scottish textile industry."
Each jumper comes with a swing tag, that shares the jumper's journey plus its number.
