Charleston Scumble is one of three patterns designed by Cambridge Imprint in 2019 for the Charleston Trust. Charleston was the Sussex farmhouse of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, and frequently served as temporary home to other members of their Bloomsbury circle during the first half of the twentieth century. The house is filled with the paintings and sculptures of the two artists, but Bell and Grant also decorated every surface of the house, the walls, doors, and furniture. Even the rugs, lampshades, bowls and plates were of their own devising. Cambridge Imprint aim to conjure the glorious colour and painterly exuberance of the Charleston interiors with their design.
