FAIRIES, BEASTS, WITCHES AND DANGEROUS WOMEN - fairy tales have always been more than bedtime stories.
They are portals to wonder, mirrors of desire and battlegrounds for power and transformation. This book gathers some of the most striking, strange and beautiful artworks, including pieces from the golden age of illustrations from Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac. With Leonora Carrington's surreal visions and Kiki Smith's provocative twists on familiar myths and Dina Goldstein's darkly witty 'after the happily ever afters', every image tells a tale, and every tale reveals a truth.
Enchanting, unsettling and utterly unforgettable - this is where art meets the dark heart of the fairy tale.
