The Mack, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow School of Art is the most up-to-date account of the Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterwork
In the wake of two tragic infernos, Robyne Calvert builds a new historic account of the interwoven life of the Glasgow School of Art and its famed home, Mackintosh's beloved, idiosyncratic masterwork, bristling with new information, insights and interpretations. This important contribution both to architectural history of the late nineteenth century and to the early twenty-first-century debates on the challenges of rebuilding lost, or nearly lost monuments.
Robyne Calvert is a cultural historian specialising in the art, architecture, design and fashion of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She was the Mackintosh Research Fellow at the Glasgow School of Art from 2015 to 2021.
